Sri Mahkota Malaysian Restaurant

After the race at Ellerslie, we went for our dinner at Great South Road which was just 5 minutes away from the lodge we were putting up that night. Tony was doing his selling for New Zealand and has booked the lodge for his selling presentation.

Address:
164 Great South Rd
Remuera
Auckland City
09-520 2998

This is a neat and clean restaurant. I ordered half Hainanese Chicken Rice while Tony ordered Roti Canai to go with Honey Pork Ribs. Sounded weird but he just loves Roti Canai and will definitely order this to go with whatever dish he ordered if that restaurant serves this. That is his style of eating.

The Hainanese chicken was abit disappointing, the meat was not tender at all and the chicken was soaked with too much of the soy sauce mixture which caused it to be salty. The only thing I liked about the dish was the chicken rice chilli sauce, it just tasted the way it should be with garlic, ginger and was spicy enough.

Tony's Honey pork ribs were tender and succulent. Chilli powder was sprinkled on top of the ribs which I found it unneccessary as it was spicy for Tony who did not take spicy food. As a result, I have to scrap the chilli powder off from the ribs.

The food were served promptly and the price was reasonable too. These 2 dishes were good to serve 3 or even 4, for the price of less than NZ$50.

After dinner, Tony wanted to go to Sky City's Casino, however he missed the turn and ended up in the harbour bridge. Because of this blunder, we ended seeing breathtaking sunset over the harbour bridge. And decided to go back to the lodge and retired early for the night instead of going to Casino.
