D.I.Y Oatmeal Cleanser

.After using my DIY egg white peel off mask, I decided to look around the internet for some DIY masks using honey as I know that honey is good for the skin. Since I am in New Zealand, with pure and good quality honey readily available here I should make full use of it. By chance, I came across a website, mentioning about Oatmeal having many health benefits.  Oats are an excellent source of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, thiamine, iron, beta-glucan and the anti-oxidants known as avenanthramides. Beta-glucan may help blood sugar levels, while avenanthramides may help promote healthy circulation. Oatmeal is also thought to aid in reducing cholesterol levels and it may boost the immune system. It is also good for the skin, provide soothing relief from sunburn, and other irritations, and is known to heal skin and open pores. A number of moisturizers and beauty products in stores contain oatmeal for its benefits to the skin as it absorbs odors, treats acne and improves dry skin.

Since Oatmeal has so many benefits and currently I am watching my diet, I decided to get a packet of oatmeals (Rolled Oats) for my weight loss program and my daily beauty regime. You can use oatmeal to make your own cleanser, scrub and mask and also eat. Why not?

It has been a week since I made my Oatmeal Cleanser and started using it. It has been very soothing for my face and my skin's condition has improved. My T-zone has less flaky dead skin, the dryness and redness have reduced. Somehow, my skin has restores the natural balance of moisture on the skin. This oatmeal cleanser has a gentle exfoliation effort, it gets rid of all the impurities and dead skin cells which leaves my skin feeling  soft, clean and smooth without feeling the harshness/dryness normal cleanser had on my skin. I will continue to use this D.I.Y Oatmeal cleanser as I am hoping that it will help to mitigate the condition of my dermatitis.

Food blender or processor
An airtight container or a ziplock bag for storage

1. Put a cup (or more) of oatmeal into a food processor, process it until it turned out fine as just flour. Store it in a airtight container/ziplock bag for your daily use.
2. Take a tablespoon of the oatmeal onto your palm. Add some water to make it into a paste.
3. Massage the paste onto your face in a circular motion for 1 minute. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry.

This can be quite messy, so I like to do it just before I take my shower.
