Sake Bar Nippon Restaurant

3rd August 2011 was our 2nd anniversary since Tony and I met. We have made this plan to dine at Sake Bar Nippon Restaurant along Manukau Rd to celebrate this special occasion. Prior to this date, I have told Tony that I do not want any gifts or flowers but just a simple meal to remember this special day of ours. Being a typical Singaporean, afraid that the restaurant may be booked out on the night Tony rang up trying to make a booking, the receiver at the other told Tony to call again later as the manager was not there to take the booking?? Just don't understand why she cannnot take our booking instead?  Subsequently, I decided to make a booking on their  website as hate the idea of being booked out when we arrived on the day. Someone was supposed to get back to us about our booking according to their website, noone rang. On the day, I gave a call to make a booking with them this time round I finally got the booking made. So for those who want to patronise this restaurant, it is better to give them a ring to make the booking. Keep calling till you get someone to try your booking...internet booking does not worked.

This is a busy restaurant though it was a Wednesday when we dined there. There was a crowd when we arrived at 630pm. It pays to book despite my bad experience with their booking system.

It was disappointing when we placed our order, we wanted to have Chicken Yakitori. We were told that was no Chicken Yakitori. Their dinner service just started at 6pm and it was not possible that they had this item in the menu "sold out" in half an hour.

We had Mushroom, Scotch Fillet and Pork from their Yakitori's menu.

From Teppanyaki's menu we had Scallop Mayo and Yakisoba-Stir Fried noodles.

From Kitchen's menu we ordered Gyoza dumplings as well as Miso soup. Japanese meal can only considered complete with miso soup. The miso soup was nice that we had 2 bowls each.

As I was not feeling satisfied not having Chicken, I asked the waiter if they have "Chicken Karaage"...a substitute for my Chicken Yakitori. Only after having my chicken dish, I felt satisfied with our anniversary's celebration.

The overall experience at this restaurant was good despite the booking glitch. The food were delicious at great prices. Food were served promptly too. Lively ambience though, the only complaint I had was seating arrangement can be abit cramped depending where you were being assigned. We would definitely paronise this restaurant again.
